对于申请本科设计专业留学的同学而言，其实选校方面会有更多的疑惑，首先是因为对于专业的不确定性，比如不同的设计专业有什么不同，学习的方向和未来的工作方向又有何不同？其次对于学校的了解更多的是来自网络上的一些复制黏贴的泛泛之谈，所含干货知识很少，仿佛大家在介绍学校时都会留一手一样。
我在艺术留学领域已经积累了有5年多的经验，一直专注于相关院校研究和申请服务，有一些自己的见解和认知，希望能够逐步分享自己的观点，帮助更多同学在留学初期了解学校并清晰的定位自己的申请目标。

2018年QS世界艺术设计专业院校排名：14th
作为最顶尖的艺术类院校，ACCD的中文名称其实一直比较尴尬，按照文本翻译应该是艺术中心设计学院，拗口不说，还充斥着满满的草根大学的气息。但是事实正好相反，这是一所在业界被广泛赞誉的顶级艺术设计院校，特别是他的交通工具和工业设计专业，享有很高的声誉。
今天我会主要介绍ACCD的本科产品设计专业，从 课程设置、申请要求、作品集解读 三个方面无死角的去聊，帮助同学们更好的去认识ACCD的产品设计。

- 专业简介：ACCD的本科产品设计专业强调以实践为基础，结合商业，通过设计去改善人的生活方式。同时学校和商业学院有合作，学生可以同时选修商业方向的课程，ACCD的产品设计专业毕业的学生可以立马投入到实际工作项目中。

前三个学期主要以专业基础课为主，但是相比较其它学校，并没有安排如素描、手绘等课程，因此这就要求学生在入读前就要具备一定的基础。从ACCD的课程安排可以看出，整个专业还是偏向传统的产品设计，强调设计方法的学习，对于最近兴起的交互和服务方向的课程安排的比较少。

Essay quesition 01:
Who do you believe to be the three major artists and designers who are shaping the discipline your are interested in pursuing or who have influenced you? These shoulud be indiciduals who have brought relevance to the world or to you in some social, political, emotional, economic, or other meaningful context. Explain why you feel they are important.
In what ways do you want your own work to contribute to or make a difference in the world?
Essay quesition 02:
Choose one of the essay questions below and respond in a personal and thoughtful way. We are especially interested in the depth of your thinking. As well as the quality of your waiting ability(100 words or more).
A. The ability to think critically and to approach the classroom with curiosity is vital to success at art center and in the prefessional world. Expalin something that you once believed to be true that you have since come to question.
B. Taking a risk comes more easily to some than to others, but for most it will be an important part of becoming an artist or designer. Explain a risk you have taken in your life that has paid off-exploring something new, confronting a fear or problem, or taking a stand on an issue.
作品集要求解读
对于ACCD本科产品设计作品集要求分为两个部分：书面作品集和作品集视频陈述（Portfolio Video Essay），首先我们来看一下学校官网对于这两个部分的详细要求。
- 书面作品集
Submit sketches and finished drawings of three or more original product designs (furniture, lighting, medical and computer equipment, or consumer products such as coffee makers, sporting goods, communications devices or personal stereos). Each project should be grouped as a separate PDF.Emphasis should be on the function of the product, as well as the aesthetics and originality of the design. Projects should show a thorough researching and exploration of a product from beginning through intermediate sketches to a final finished rendering of the product.Inclusion of photos of 3D models is optional. Of primary importance are exploratory sketches that show a variety of solutions and ideas for each product presented. Sketchbook pages should be scanned and grouped in a single PDF.
提交三个以上原创作品的设计草图或者图纸，项目题材不限，可以是家具、照明、医疗设备、电子产品等等，每个项目最终保存一个单独的PDF文件。项目的设计重点需要放在产品的功能、美学和创意上，三者缺一不可，通过草图和渲染图去深入探索项目完整的发展过程。3D制图并不是必须的，更重要的是能体现你设计思路和想法的前期设计过程中的草图。你的手绘本需要扫描单独成为一个PDF文件并提交。

Address the following questions in your essay:
Why did you choose to create this piece?
How did you approach the making of this piece?
What aspects of this piece satisfied your intentions?
What, if anything, might you change about your piece?
在视频Essay中你需要重点去阐述以下问题：
为什么要创作这个作品？
你是如何去完成的？
这个作品那部分达到了你的设计意图？
如果有可能，你会去改变现有的设计吗？
只需要选择一个项目去介绍，注明项目的标题和时间，视频通过slideroom提交，长度不超过2分钟。对于视频Essay而言，难度是如果在2分钟内去阐述你的作品并且给学校留下深刻的印象，这也是学下去判断学生能力高低的一个很重要的参考。
